Matthew Stevenson, President
Matthew is a native of southeast Texas. Growing up in Friendswood and attending CCISD school district, he had his plans set early in life when he worked with his father during summer breaks learning the business and the ethics of hard work. After high school, he went straight to work in the pressure vessel inspection field and quickly excelled to lead inspector on lined assets. It was here where he started dabbling in the coatings world and it didn’t take him long to realize coatings was the career path for him.
In 2005 Gartner Coatings approached Matthew to join their team. It was the break he had been looking for. He had been wanting to go into the coatings and lining world for a long time. With no previous coating experience, he joined the Gartner team as General Manager, which meant running full production and managing a crew of 20 guys. Gartner Coatings gave him the platform to learn multiple coatings and processes, and it also allowed him to achieve his N.A.C.E. 3 certification and multiple other certifications through the N.A.C.E. organization.
In 2010 Matt left Gartner to travel the world doing third party inspection services. This gave Matt a wider knowledge of how the world does business and opened his eyes to new ideas and processes. In 2014 Matt went back into the coatings and linings world and for the next four years he ran a successful production department and built a highly regarded reputation. During this time, Matt married the love of his life and settled down in the small town of Santa Fe, Texas where he lives a simple life raising four beautiful children.
In 2017, Matt came back to his roots and re-joined the Gartner team as President. Matt brings with him 20 years of industry experience and a team that will perform at the highest level continuing to keep Gartner Coatings as an industry leader in the coatings world.
